Want to have a sneak peak at how we teach Massage online?
Are you interested in Massage or just want to learn the basics?
Not sure if you would be suited to studying online?

If you are interested in learning massage and want to be able to do more than give a little shoulder rub; then we can help. This short massage course is great if you want to be able to give a basic massage to your friends and family members. It is also a fantastic introduction to learning massage online with NetQ if you are considering becoming a professional massage therapist and want to see what is involved before you start.

It is a fully online, four session program, that allows you to experience what massage is all about in its various forms.  You will learn Swedish relaxation techniques, to give you a good basic understanding of massage practice and theory.

We can't teach you how to be a professional massage therapist in four sessions, that takes six months at least, but this program is a great start if you would like to know what it might take to become one.  You will have first hand experience of what it is like to study online with us.

You'll have access to our online learning system for 14 days and one of our Senior Course Coaches who is available to answer any of our questions.  The best part...if you decide to enrol in our accredited online (HLT42015) Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice  qualification your Introduction to Massage course fees ($160) will come off the cost of your tuition.

Core Subject Descriptions

This is two subjects that set the scene for a career in the massage industry by covering: communication, goal setting, scope of practice, medical terminology, client screening, record keeping, ethics, legal considerations, occupational health and safety and symptomology of common contraindications.

This module covers cells, tissues, and each of the 11 major systems of the body and their integration and control. Manual therapy requires an in-depth knowledge of bony anatomy and muscle; this subject covers bony landmarks in detail and the original, insertion, action and innervation of 63 major muscles which a therapist could expect to be treating. The student can also expect to cover nutrition and energy systems in this module.

The full body massage sequence; 140 Swedish strokes to reduce stress, improve circulation, assist lymph function and enhance relaxation. Students learn how to treat pregnant women, elderly, young and special needs clients. Also included in this wide ranging practical component is corporate seated massage.  Students also learn how to adapt their treatment to account for the physical changes associated with older age, disability and pregnancy.

The Provide First Aid unit of competency provides students with the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other First Aiders until emergency qualified help arrives at the scene of the accident.

Students learn how to establish, operate, and grow a successful massage business. This subject covers best practice in sales and marketing strategies, business finance, excellence in customer service, leadership, and personal and professional development.

This module teaches all the knowledge and skills required to stretch all the major muscles of the body, passively or actively. This allows students to give clients home care options and can help with injury prevention. The use of thermal therapies (heat and ice) are also covered.

Thai Massage is a form of treatment that uses deep passive stretching and slow sustained compression applied to the client. It is a great treatment that involves the client and therapist creating deep stretching and muscular release. Some clients find this to be a very uplifting and beneficial treatment.

Reflexology offers students a short break from our science-based training. This subject introduces students to a traditional Eastern practice of holistic health which can be offered as a stand-alone treatment, or used in conjunction with other techniques to provide one super-treatment! Employers often favour therapists who can offer clients the broadest range of treatment skills, which we support and encourage.

Please note: students must have a current Senior First Aid course before they can graduate from the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice.   First Aid (HLTAID003) must be done via an on-campus program, it cannot be completed via distance.  You are welcome to visit one of our campuses in South East Queensland to complete this training.
