Recognition of Prior Learning

Want credit for previous study? - Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Mutual Recognition (MR)

Would you like to learn Remedial Massage and believe that the previous study you have undertaken entitles you to a credit for some, or most, of the material contained in our program?

Great! At Q Academy we value your former education and do not believe you should have to pay for something you have already learnt. If you can demonstrate that you already have a level of skill and understanding equal to that of our graduates, we will happily give you credit for that component of our program.

If that sounds applicable to you please inspect the four categories below and decide which one you fit into. If you are unsure please call your nearest campus on 1300 20 40 80 and we can help you identify your category over the phone.

Number 1. “I have a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307 or HLT40302) and would like to enrol in your Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50307) so I can register for a Health Care Provider Number and offer my clients a complete postural assessment and treatment to assist with their structural challenges.”

You may qualify for Mutual Recognition (MR) and if you do, you can enrol directly into the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT50307). There is no charge for MR. Please contact your nearest campus (1300 20 40 80) and book an appointment with a Careers Specialist to discuss MR. When you attend the appointment bring along your Certificate and Statement of Attainment as we require a copy of this for your file. At your interview we may ask you a few questions about the content of your original qualification. This is because different providers include different electives in their qualifications and we would like to guarantee that you have the same knowledge as our students entering Diploma level to ensure that you will get the most out of our program. If you are concerned about your level of knowledge please let us know and we can give you some information about our bridging courses.

Number 2. “I would like to enrol in your Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307), and I have studied similar subject matter previously and believe there may be some overlapping qualifications. My Certificates and Statements of Attainment contain codes starting with HLT that are also contained in your qualification. ”

You may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and if you do, you can enrol in our Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307) at a reduced price. Please contact your nearest campus (1300 20 40 80) and book an appointment with a Careers Specialist to discuss RPL. When you attend the appointment bring along any Certificates and Statements of Attainment that show the HLT codes you believe overlap. Your Career Specialist will go through the RPL Application with you and help you fill out the form and compile your Portfolio of Evidence. This Application is then sent to our RPL Officer who will contact you with an outcome. Please allow seven days for processing. The cost of RPL is $100.00.

Number 3. “I would like to enrol in your Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307), and I have studied similar subject matter previously and believe there may be some overlapping qualifications. My Certificates and Statements of Attainment do not contain HLT codes.”

You may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and if you do, you can enrol in our Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307) at a reduced price. Whilst your paperwork doesn’t match ours, we would still like to give you a chance to show us you know your stuff! Please call your nearest campus (1300 20 40 80) and book an appointment with a Careers Specialist to sit for an RPL.

When you attend your appointment please bring along your Certificates and Statements of Attainment. You will first be given multiple choice theory assessment (s) or practical skills evaluations that correspond to the subject(s) you have already completed to see if your competency is still current. The cost of RPL is $100.00 per subject.

Number 4. “I have recently moved to Australia from another country, I have studied and worked as a Massage Therapist in my country, I would like to have my qualifications transferred to Australian qualifications so I can get insurance and begin work as a massage professional.”

You may qualify for part or all of an Australian qualification based on the studies you completed before you came to Australia. In order for us to grant you an Australian qualification you will need to demonstrate the same level of skill and understanding equal to that of our graduates. Please call your nearest campus (1300 20 40 80) and make an appointment with a Careers Specialist for an International RPL.

When you attend your appointment please bring along your Certificates and Statements of Attainment and if they are not in English then we will need a certified translation into English by a qualified translator.

The process for an International RPL will require two appointments.

The first step is to demonstrate your theoretical knowledge and you will be given multiple choice assessments for our courses. The cost of this initial theory check is $100 for the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307) qualification and $100 for the Diploma in Remedial Massage (HLT50307) as well.

If you pass the theoretical assessments you must then pass our practical evaluations to obtain Recognition of Prior Learning for those subjects. The cost of this practical assessment is $150 for the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy Practice (HLT40307) qualification, and $150 for the Diploma in Remedial Massage (HLT50307) qualification.
